About This Place

Situated in the heart of Thetford, The Warrener offers a quintessentially British dining experience that perfectly blends the warmth of a traditional pub with a vibrant family-friendly atmosphere. Renowned as both a family and breakfast restaurant, as well as a classic British pub, The Warrener is an inviting destination whether you're seeking a hearty morning meal, a comforting Sunday roast, or a relaxed evening out with friends or family.

Step inside and you’ll immediately notice the friendly, attentive service that customers frequently praise — from Conor and Alex to Courtney and Eva, the team’s hospitality is consistently warm and thoughtful, ensuring every guest feels right at home. The Warrener’s ambiance strikes a wonderful balance between lively and cozy, making it just as suitable for casual midweek dinners as for celebratory gatherings or family outings.

The menu boasts a broad selection of carefully crafted dishes that showcase the best of British cuisine alongside comforting pub classics with a twist. Indulgent starters such as crispy chicken goujons served with smoky BBQ dip or Mac & Cheese bites entice with perfectly balanced flavors and textures, inviting guests to share and savor. The Potato Dippers, layered with melted mozzarella, cheddar, streaky bacon, and spring onions, paired with a reduced-fat soured cream dip, are a particular highlight—rich, satisfying, and ideal for sharing.

For main courses, The Warrener excels in delivering hearty, satisfying meals that evoke the pleasure of home-cooked British fare. The Sunday Roast featuring tender roast beef remains a firm favorite, while the Peri Peri Chicken offers a zestier option accompanied by grilled corn on the cob, coleslaw, and skin-on chips. Fish & Chips here feels like a classic reimagined — perfectly crispy batter encasing tender fish, served alongside golden chips with a side of comfort. For those seeking bold flavors, the Loaded Nachos and the Mac and Cheese Double Burger deliver on indulgence, while options like the sweet potato curry cater to vegetarian palates with a creamy, spiced coconut sauce that comforts and excites.

Dessert lovers will find themselves spoiled by tempting choices such as the Knickerbocker Glory Sundae, a nostalgic treat bursting with layers of sweetness, or the rich Sticky Toffee Pudding served with warm custard or vanilla ice cream that melts decadently on the tongue. The Chocolate Layer Torte brings a delicate balance of intense cocoa and refreshing raspberry notes, perfect for ending a meal on a high note.

The Warrener’s beverage selection further enhances the experience, featuring well-poured beers, crafted cocktails, and classic English breakfast teas to accompany any dish or time of day. Whether you’re unwinding with a pint or warming up with a steaming cup of tea, every sip complements the hearty flavors of the menu.

Customers consistently highlight the excellent value offered here. Alfie Matthews recounts a memorable visit where the staff happily adjusted dessert portions to enhance the enjoyment, while Phil Whitcombe praises the extensive, high-quality breakfast buffet and evening meals enjoyed during a stay next door at the Premier Inn. Steph Smith draws attention to the friendly service and ample free parking, perfect for families and groups without the hassle. Meanwhile, Janine Pogue’s experience underscores The Warrener’s sensitivity and professionalism, providing a compassionate setting for difficult occasions such as wakes, all handled with respect and grace.

In every aspect, The Warrener stands out not only as a place to eat but as a welcoming space to create lasting memories — whether it’s a fun-filled family breakfast, a leisurely Sunday roast, or a comforting meal during life’s more solemn moments. All staff (Conor, Alex, Rob, Courtney and Eva) were friendly, attentive and polite. Had a great meal out with my nana. Brownie was tasty, mentioned about having 3 spoons and they increased the brownie portion for us to share more! Would recommend to anyone

We stayed 2 nights in the Premier Inn next door and had breakfast and evening meals here. The breakfast was selected from a good buffet. The evening meals were excellent with plenty of choice. My favourite was the Melt in the middle Fish Pie Fishcake. It was great. All the food and drinks were good value. The staff were all very friendly. Painted in the ceilings were some great comments.

Really good value and a great experience overall. Kiera and Caitlin were friendly, helpful and attentive. The food was tasty with lots of choice on the menu, and there’s a big car park with free parking for restaurant guests. Would happily come back.

The warrener is a perfect venue for any event. I've been to two funerals wakes here both were fantastic. Considering they were both extremely sad occasions for myself the staff made the experience easier for me. All the staff were very respectful helpful and kept things running very smoothly. I would definitely recommend the warrener for any occasion.
